European garden spider (Araneus diadematus), this was lurking outside my back door on its web. It was too windy to try a stack, so I tried a few high speed bursts. These are probably the best out of the bunch. I thought I would post them anyway. I tried shooting underneath against the sky, but couldn't quite capture the head as I wanted. The other image is looking down on its back.

I finally stopped in at station 11 today. It's a restaurant/bar/coffeeshop in a former historic fire station, hence the name. Although far less busy at 9:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning, it did remind me a bit of a more upscale version of The Vintage on Magazine Street in New Orleans.

“Laurana’s style became widely adopted—as seen in the *Fragment with a Musical Angel* attributed to Pietro de Bonitate. De Bonitate was a collaborator of Laurana and the creator of the Cathedral portal (executed in 1468); he followed the design of Baboccio da Piperno—a sculptor active within the circle of the Angevin-Durazzo dynasty in Naples. Our fragment may well originate from that same milieu, as it demonstrates an adherence to Gothic models despite the structural approach derived from Laurana. The model of the Cathedral portal also became widespread beyond the Strait of Messina, influencing a series of pointed-arch portals in Calabria. – Regional Museum of Messina”
