Finished the hand embroidery — for a person who doesn’t do a lot of hand embroidery, I’m okay with it

Not sure whether/how I’m going to quilt this. I kind of want it to be more squishy when finished, with that karate chop decorator look to the pillow. Quilting gives it too much body, but maybe I can find a softer batting than I normally use

Not sure how I’m even writing this post, because I am literally bouncing up and down in absolute glee at how well this quilt top is coming together. I mean look how perfectly Laika fit next to Tereshkova!

There was a dreaded Y-seam on the Liu Yang block, but I made it thru 😅

Because the next astronaut has something in her hand, I can’t fully piece Yang’s leg section; it’ll hopefully be finished soon tho

Anticipating this top will be done Sat/Sun time frame 🤞🏻

I’ve got a lot of seams still to press flat; we’ve got a storm coming in and the humidity is wreaking havoc on them. But it’s going to be a great wall hanging when quilted!

Here’s the draft pattern of the Women of #StarTrek quilt you all helped me gather names for earlier this year 🙏🏻

The colors aren’t quite right in the picture, but the fabrics will (hopefully) be much more accurate. Some words may change as I work on it, too

It’s going to require so much machine embroidery! But what really scares me are the 3.5” curves on the color bars 😬 Still, I think I’m up for the challenge and I’m really looking forward to starting next year

Finished my paper airplane FPP #quilt recently and am already well into the next project. Except for the backing which I don't like enough to show it's all thrifted and salvaged fabric. Each plane is ditch stitched on my machine and then the "speed lines" are big hand stitching. #sewing #quilting

Rectangular modern quilt with twelve horizontal rectangular blocks, arranged in two columns and six rows, each featuring a stylized paper airplane pieced from coordinating fabrics, and finished with a narrow blue binding.

The airplanes appear in a range of colors including greens, blues, pinks, yellows, reds, and purples, with each plane made from three related shades to suggest folded paper layers.
