<p>I realised I've now been around here for several years and tooted a ridiculous number of things so it's time for an updated intro to pin to my profile. </p><p>I'm Joanna. I live in Melbourne on the lands of the Kulin Nation. </p><p>I'm a legal administrator for a conservation not-for-profit. It makes me really happy that my spreadsheet wrangling helps protect threatened creatures and landscapes. In my spare time I'm a (very) amateur but enthusiastic birder- I'm sure neighbours who see me pointing cameras up at trees think I'm strange. I'm obsessed with <a href="/tags/eurovision/" rel="tag">#eurovision</a>, get a lot of joy out of trashy dance music and have been getting into <a href="/tags/musicaltheatre/" rel="tag">#MusicalTheatre</a>. I'm always interested in <a href="/tags/book/" rel="tag">#book</a> recommendations. I post quite a bit about things happening in <a href="/tags/melbourne/" rel="tag">#Melbourne</a> and love discussing what might make this place better. Long walks through Melbourne make me happy. The Yick Fat Building, also known as the Monster Building, was built in the 1960s. It consists of several five buildings that merge into a huge architectural complex and are all connected by a very narrow inner courtyard. It is therefore one of Hong Kong's most famous photo motifs on Instagram. Visitors call it the "Monster Building" because the buildings resemble a Transformers-like monster. It consists of 2,243 units that are 18 storeys high. Currently, 10,000 people live in the complex.

<p>A rather beautiful wally close in the west end of Glasgow. <p>Morning in the city</p><p>Apart from some little cropping, I didn't do anything to this photo. It doesn't look quite real, like a city from a comic book. That's how I feel when I go into a big city. I'm always looking for the organic, the living, the sun and the shadows, but the superposition of lines, the rectangles and the brightness of all the glass behind this old building is what I like here.</p><p><a href="/tags/photography/" rel="tag">#photography</a> <a href="/tags/montreal/" rel="tag">#montreal</a> <a href="/tags/architecture/" rel="tag">#architecture</a></p>

The old stone building is a three-story presbytery, imposing but still having that human scale feeling. Behind the skyscrapers are much more impersonal and cold. At least from my point of view.

On the right, along the gray concrete wall, modern-style bench seating, with red seats and rounded gray backs, and the black band at the top with the station name "Radisson" in white, also create an alignment of shapes and colors towards the background.
