I've been in childcare mode, thus the silence. I've been thinking about something and I would love to get your advice.

#AskFedi: is there a way to export one's #GoToSocial archive of posts (but not replies to other users)? Like something with command lines that doesn't require tedious copy and paste operations?

I wanted to gather up all the posts about the first 6 months of my self-hosting journey, to neatly organize them on my website (either in multiple blog posts or pages) so that they could be more easily searchable. It's not really ideal to go on an infinite scroll quest in reverse chronological order to see the evolution of my self-hosting journey.

Like, I'm curious to see what I was up to in January but going back in time loading old posts takes forever. And I cannot really search for keywords.

I'd like to keep things organized and easily searchable. And implement a POSSE system going forward... publishing on my site first and then syndicating elsewhere.

Does anyone know of a MacOS (Ventura) app I can have on my own hard drive that doesn't cost a fortune, that will allow me to download YouTube and other online videos? Something for regular ol' people, not programmers/scripters? No git hub?

An org I spoke for put the video up, but did not give me a copy so I'd like to download it.

I used to use Softorino's YT downloader, which I PAID for, but then they decided to go SaaS and iced out all their paid users who got it before.#AskFedi #MacOS

Since November 28th of this year I've received 22 spam emails with the same title "Let's start getting to know each other." (with the period at the end) from senders with names like Ellie, Emily, Harper, Olivia, and Aria. I haven't been able to find information about an ongoing scam like this. Has anyone else been seeing this one?

(I'm not asking for advice about dealing with spam. SpamAssassin has this one well in hand. I'm just curious if anyone else has been seeing spam like this).

I wanna move my PeerTube Channels over from MakerTube what should I do?

I have a few PeerTube channels on @MakerTube

The goal was always it to be a temporary home for my YouTube content. The time has come to help MakerTube by moving my content away from there system's freeing up storage space and not costing them a monthly price for hosting.

I've got a few options;
Option 1 -- I upload all channels content to this account. Making it a mix of gaming, vlogging and general posts I've done across video content.

Option 2 -- I create new accounts on solent.social where I upload these bits of content allowing me to boost it with my main account as a 'go check it out' system. (I'm questioning how I'd name them as I currently run two channels of "SamXavia" for vlogging / motorvlogging content and "SamXaviaGaming" for gaming content, but I could rather simplify this name or keep it the same as my main on here is Sam)

Option 3 -- I take more time and start up my own PeerTube instance to make sure that the content gets put onto PeerTube along with the rest of the Fediverse instead of where microblogging systems post to. This option doesn't give much benefit to me other than spending more money from what I can see but I might be missing something.


So help me, what do you think I should do? They are all okay options and have there benefits, but I do really want to make sure my content is out here on the Fediverse and it is better to have proper control / ownership of it.

On Mastodon web, is there a way to follow hashtags without them showing on the Home column?

EDIT: maybe with RSS? can we get a feed for a hashtag?

(It really messes with my brain, Home is for my mutuals, everything else should go on lists or... IDK, not on Home)

There's a ladybug following me everywhere since yesterday.

She roamed near me as I did a video call from my child's room yesterday morning.

Today she flew on my computer monitor and wandered around for a bit. Then I went to shower and she followed me to the bathroom, planting itself on the window. She's very cute.

Do you have any ladybug care tips? How can I help her with food and water?

(My mom says it's still too cold to bring her outside... my 5-year-old is smitten too) 🐞
