This is a black and white water sports photo in landscape format of a female teen surfing shortly after sunrise. Hermosa Beach, California (2013).

All of the right side of the image, extending from the centre of the base of the photo, diagonally upwards to the upper left corner: is brimming with a maelstrom of foaming brilliant white surf from a Pacific wave breaking from right to left. The remains of the image, to the left, is filled with jet black sea water with horizontal ripples disturbing the surface. In the centre of the picture is our female teen. She is viewed from a few metres above, three metres away and with her filling half the height of the photo. She is standing on her surfboard, body facing the camera, her head angled back as she looks at the breaking wave behind her, perhaps with an anxious expression on her face. She has long, dark and wet hair, is wearing a dark t-shirt with the word 'Redondo' in large white lettering and a black wetsuit underneath. She is surfing from right to left and slightly towards the camera.

35° and rising. Very little tad of breeze not enough to cool anything. Shimmer of heat rises from roofs.

Local forecast has it for 38°+ this weekend. Mid September. Swallows and Martins still around. Scores of stork nests of which 2 occupied, one each, the rest empty.

Nearest city is 20 miles away and it has the major oil/facility and port. Pipes, tubes, transporting some sort gas which must be kept at -150° or else the gas will ignite, running above the ground mostly. Just imagine... a tsunami...

The desert sun blessed our community Saturday evening for our Equinox gathering. There was much music made around a campfire.

Near the horizon, distant grey clouds stretch to offset an orange glow that reaches across the frame. The horizon itself is a jagged line of mountain peaks showing as a grey shadow. In the foreground, green tumbleweeds dot a flat, sandy surface. In the center of the frame, the orange glow from the setting sun surrounds an almost white half circle, as it descends behind mountains. Taken from The Delle in Tooele County, Utah.
