Burg Eltz - a monumental castle in Germany, in the Eifel region, situated in a valley on the small Elztbach River (left-bank tributary of the Mosel river). Situated in a distant & hidden mountain valley - castle stays for 34 generations in private hands of single family (!) This black bear cub is about 8 to 9 months old. It looks very healthy and fat enough to survive its first winter. Its mum is experienced and great at catching salmon. I think that she is an alpha female or matriarch in the clan.
