Bonjour,

Remember colorkeys? They were all the rage at some point, but fell out of fashion quickly. But this "natural colorkey" caught my eye.

#photography #street #streetphotography #minimalist #contrast #color #colorstreet #urban #leipzig #texturetuesday #colorkey

The image captures a section of an urban outdoor scene. The dominant element on the left is a bright red rectangular dispenser, standing upright. It has a hinged door with a small black lock near the bottom and a rectangular opening near the top.

The background wall is a textured surface composed of small, raised horizontal lines, a common architectural feature. Superimposed on this textured wall are larger square and triangular tiles of a lighter, grayish concrete material. Some of these tiles, particularly those on the upper left and upper right, bear faint graffiti marks in a gray tone. The arrangement of the tiles creates a geometric pattern, with squares and triangles interspersing.

A shiny metal bench made of steel rods - the perspective means that it fills the bottom/foreground and is reduced towards the top. Below the bench is a cobbled walkway and some greenery in the top right. There are long shadows down the left and under the bench.

The image shows a close-up of a textured metal plate with a diamond-shaped pattern. The diamonds are slightly raised and have a metallic brown, rusty colour. The surface appears textured and slightly worn. Fine irregularities and variations in colour lend the material an industrial or vintage charm.

Close-up of an intricate stucco relief panel from the Nasrid Palaces of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. The center features a circular medallion surrounding a prominent coat of arms. The central shield bears a diagonal band with raised Arabic calligraphy reading the dynastic motto "Wa-la ghaliba illa Allah", which translates to "There is no conqueror but God". The monochrome plasterwork serves as a prime example of the fusion of the three main pillars of Islamic decoration: The floral element (Ataurique) encircles the coat of arms with a lush web of blossoms, leaves, and stems, symbolizing the "Garden of Paradise" and standing for fertility and life. Around this, the geometry (Sebka) dissolves into strict, mathematical interlacing bands, featuring rhomboid shapes and endless knot patterns (stars and crosses) typical of Almohad and Nasrid architecture. Finally, the epigraphy (calligraphy) along the edge of the circle and in the corners features stylized, letter-like ornaments that create a fluid transition between script and plant motifs.

Good day!

This is my favorite time of year to focus on the forest floor, rather than in the trees.

That’s where stuff is happening, including color changes.

Not that I’m an expert. More like the opposite. Oh, but curiosity…

Be everwell.

A mushroom that’s ivory in color and thick grows amidst pine cones and pine needles. It’s extremely bulbous and was bigger than my splayed hand.

A rotting tree stump in a small clearing has become a castle for colorful moss and lichen that are adding their shades of green to wood that’s almost black with weathering and age. Pine forest rises behind.

Deadwood that is disappearing into the forest floor is thick with moss.

Various moss and lichen have made their home on and between two parallel ridges of rock on the forest floor.

Close-up of an intricate Moorish wooden ceiling panel (Artesonado) from the Alhambra, crafted in the Mudéjar or Nasrid style. The image displays a highly complex geometric wood inlay technique where raised, concentric wooden bands interlace to form an endless network of multi-pointed stars, rhombuses, and polygons. An eight-pointed star configuration grounds the center. The recessed spaces between the wooden beams are adorned with shimmering leaf gold gilding and hand-painted floral arabesque motifs (Ataurique). Along the edges of the golden fields, fine lines of tiny white dotted patterns resemble mother-of-pearl or bone inlays, adding dramatic depth and texture to the rich brown woodwork.
