An orange hermit crab crawls out of its flipped over shell. It has legs that are orange and red in alternating fine bands. The shell, its temporary home until it grows too large, is a dusty rose color.

Look what we found in the garden yesterday! It was missing two legs and an antenna, so to keep it out of harm's way, we placed it in the lavender, where it started to groom its legs

This black bear stood in the middle of the river and focused on a spot where many salmon had gathered. The bear was keeping a close eye on their movement, waiting for the right moment to jump and catch one.

This gorgeous chunky black bear just spotted a delicious salmon. At this time of year, bears consume up to 20,000 calories per day. It is called hyperphagia. I can only hope to eat that much! 😆
