A pile of dark-beige road salt with interesting fissures is sidelit by late afternoon sun and backed by a brilliant cloudless blue sky. The top portions of the pile are cemented together in a way that makes intricate patterns where the lower parts of the pile have slipped to form smooth cone-like surfaces. The grey wall – The remains of an old warehouse have been left standing at Islands Brygge, alongside an old train carriage. In the background, the modern face of Copenhagen is visible on the other side of the harbor.

Jardine's Crescent

(Details In The #AltText) (AltText By Human)

This is a dark and grungy black and white street photo in portrait format of a dim and dark alley with shuttered market stalls on either side and in the distance a man kicking an object. Jardine's Crescent, Hong Kong (2013).

The camera is located in the centre of this dim passageway, angled along it and about a metre and half above the ground. Extending away from the camera on both sides are closed market stalls, all with their shutters drawn down closed. The alley is about two and a half metres wide and stretches forward in a straight line for about fifty metres. Some of the market stalls have corrugated metal panels roughly placed above the entrances, all the stalls have small spiral neon lights hanging over the front. The rough concrete ground in front of the camera is brightly lit in the centre by the morning sun, with deep shadows on the side and is scattered with small pieces of litter. On the left there is an empty cloths rack a few metres in front of the camera and further on is a pallet of large cardboard boxes wrapped together with clear plastic. Perhaps ten metres from the camera and on the right side is the back of our man kicking out at some unknown object. Through the gaps in the corrugated roof panels is a bright sky, overexposed to brilliant white with the vague outline of a glass fronted tower block a hundred metres away.

Last year for my 50th birthday I treated myself to renting a motorboat on Sardegna (Italy), and my wife and I surrounded the island La Maddalena, where we found this beautiful bay with its azure blue water.
