Vision of another era
We were lucky to see some of the last caribou south of the St. Lawrence River at the summit of Mont Jacques-Cartier. They are the last representatives of the large herds of woodland caribou that once occupied southern Quebec.
The woodland caribou herd of the mountain ecotype is now estimated at about 30 animals in the park.
