Unlike Sarracenia leucophylla, which grows its best pitchers late in summer, S. oreophila puts out a burst of new pitchers in the spring. Those pitchers are now dying back in preparation for winter dormancy. Smaller leaves at the base of the plant are phyllodia, non-trap leaves that nevertheless can photosynthesize.

The short-lived Gorsedda slate quarry. Massively capitalised in the late 1850s as the Bangor and Portmadoc Slate and Slate Slab Company, it closed by 1870.
It's nature was best summarised by the words:
"Everything that could facilitate the works was produced, nothing being wanted but the slate vein. There was no quarry there."

![The image is a black and white photograph depicting an indoor scene, likely taken during the daytime as light streams through windows in the background. Three individuals are seated at desks arranged around what appears to be a central table or podium with microphones attached, suggesting they might be involved in some sort of formal meeting or hearing.
On the left side, one person is focused on writing something down; their right hand holds a pen and rests atop papers while their head tilts slightly downward. The individual wears glasses, has dark hair, and appears to wear a suit with a tie. To the center-right stands another participant covering their face with both hands in what could be an expression of stress or fatigue.
On the far right is someone who seems engaged with documents on the table; they appear more casually dressed compared to the others, wearing glasses, dark pants, and possibly sneakers instead of formal shoes.
The room has curtains drawn back partially at windows revealing a view outside. The desks are covered in papers, cups likely containing coffee or tea, indicating an extended session. A microphone stand is visible near each person's desk, hinting that they might be speaking to someone not pictured here or addressing the audience beyond this image frame.
